Nearly six months after the European Food Safety Authority (Efsa) put novel food assessments for cannabinoids on hold, none of the validated applicants has been able to fill the knowledge gaps the EU watchdog has identified.
While Efsa said in June that some candidates might already have been in a position to provide part of the missing data, and that it would engage with them to clarify what further information was needed, the agency now admits that none of the validated applicants has succeeded in addressing its requests.
